Quick answers to what people ask most.
What can I record?
Anything. Hum a melody, sing a line, speak a poem, talk through a chorus idea, or just play guitar into your phone. As long as it has a voice or a pitch, String can work with it. Most recordings are between 10 and 60 seconds.
Do I need to sing in tune?
No. String reads the rhythm and shape of your voice, not the exact notes. You can hum, mumble, whisper, or speak. If you can hold a thought, you have enough to make a song.
What styles can I choose from?
Twelve at launch. Indie folk, lo-fi, jazz, cinematic, dream pop, hip-hop, classical, country, ambient, soul, synth-wave, and acoustic. More are added regularly, and you can use the same recording across all of them.
Who owns the songs I make?
You do. Every song you create with String is yours to keep, share, post, or release commercially. There are no hidden licenses or royalty splits.
When will String launch?
Early access opens later this year. Everyone on the waitlist gets invited first, in the order they signed up. The first 1,000 get a year free.
What happens to my voice recordings?
They stay private. Recordings are processed for your song and then deleted after 30 days. They are never shared, sold, or used to train public models. Your voice belongs to you.
